Once the school day concludes, the spirit of goodness continues at Aftercare Mitzvah Club. Here, young students take it upon themselves to perform mitzvahs, fostering a culture of kindness that extends both within and beyond the school's walls.
Within the school premises, the club members dutifully carry out a range of helpful tasks; collecting recycling materials and, engaging in environmental stewardship, taking charge of ground clean-up, leaving their school environment pristine and inviting. Moreover, their dedication extends to assisting teachers with various tasks, from laminating and copying to cutting and creating vibrant bulletin boards that brighten the classrooms.
Yet, the true essence of the Aftercare Mitzvah Club reveals itself when they venture beyond the school confines performing meaningful acts of kindness for the community.
Whether it’s writing cards of gratitude to local firefighters and veterans or a weekly visit to a neighboring retirement home, bringing smiles and companionship to the elderly residents. Each visit becomes a celebration of traditions, where students joyfully share their special works and projects, serenade the seniors with uplifting songs, and extend the warmth of Jewish holiday traditions. The genuine connections forged between the students and the seniors transcend age, proving that acts of kindness can bridge generations.
